There are two things worth noticing about this interview that Jonathan Capehart did with Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett.  The section on gay rights begins at 3:30.  Jarrett calls being gay "a lifestyle choice"-- in a supportive context-- at 4:34.

It's very nice that Dan Savage has decided to encourage gay kids not to kill themselves in response to homophobic bullying. But I wish he would also discourage anti-gay bullying by not using hateful, anti-gay language himself. This is part of the tribute he sent to Andrew Sullivan's celebration of himself today:

Obama adviser David Axelrod wins's Trousertube's first Ack Ack Award for his tortured defense of the president's position on equal marriage rights for gay people: he both opposes same sex marriage but supports equality for gay and lesbian people.

David Blankenhorn, pro-Prop 8 witness, is feeling sorry for himself, according to the Gay City News:


What may sting the most are the insults that have been thrown at Blankenhorn.

“My children wake up and see me called a bigot in the pages of the New York Times,” he said.

Boo-fucking-hoo you piece of shit.  You are a bigot because you think treating the marriages of gay people the same as the marriages as straight people would harm society, despite the total lack of credible evidence that this is the case.

Blankenhorn doesn't think he's a bigot  because he doesn't hate gay people.  He thinks gays are unfair to professional bigots like Maggie Gallagher because he does not find them hateful.

Rachel Maddow fucking rocks.  This piece on how Republicans are currently fighting tooth and nail against their own ideas (like requiring people to but helth insurance and Cap and Trade) shows how easy it should be for Democrats to beat them in the fall.

But Rachel leaves something unsaid:  almost everything that Obama has "accomplished" has actually been a Repubublican idea.  Do the Democrats deserve any credit for making Mitt Romney's health care plan the model for our national reform?
